Moses Nagari

Moses Nagari, also known as Moses ben Judah, was a Jewish philosopher and writer who lived during the medieval period. He is believed to have resided in Rome, Italy, around the year 1300. His surname is thought to be derived from the Ne'arim family, with "Na'ar" being the correct pronunciation. As a scholar, Moses Nagari made significant contributions to the field of philosophy, particularly in his work related to Maimonides' writings.

Moses Nagari's notable works include Ma'amar ba-Ma'areket, an index to Maimonides' Moreh Nebukim, as well as explanations of various philosophical terms. His writings were later published in Venice in 1574, alongside Saul Cohen's philosophical questions on the "Moreh" addressed to Isaac Abravanel. Although his work was initially considered a fragment of a larger collective project on the Moreh, it was mistakenly referred to as Qetzat Bi'ure ha-Moreh. Despite this, Moses Nagari's contributions to the understanding of Maimonides' philosophy remain an important part of his legacy.
