Jamaican-born American actor (1844–1906)

Lewis Morrison was a Jamaican-born American actor, born as Moritz W. Morris in 1844. He gained recognition for his work in the theatrical field, where he not only acted but also managed productions. One of his most notable roles was that of Mephistopheles in the play Faust, a character he portrayed in his own production from 1885 onwards.

Morrison's career spanned over two decades, with his portrayal of Mephistopheles being a highlight until 1906. On a personal note, he was the father of actress Adrienne Morrison and the grandfather of renowned actresses Constance, Barbara, and Joan Bennett. Through his family, Morrison's legacy extended into the next generations of actors, leaving a lasting impact on the world of theatre and film. He passed away in 1906, leaving behind a notable body of work and a family that continued to contribute to the entertainment industry.
